EF Education First Teachers

Hello, my name is Jake and I will be going to Chengdu In June. Anyone else going to Chengdu?

Anyone already there that can give me some information about Chengdu? Such as, things to do, places I should look for apartments near the centre, etc?

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Yeah, I was surprised to know about that before  I arrived. Yeah, if not all I care about is if it's close to the school and cheap enough haha

Oh wow, I wish I knew what school I was going to! Jealous. Maybe you can move into an apartment of one of the teachers who are moving out

Actually, I know what school I'm going to already and I was even added to a huge WeChat group of everyone who works there haha. I wish I would learn more about the city before I go though. Haha, interesting... in San Diego we just call it the the subway. Yeah, I will definitely look for a place near a subway or bus stop at least.

You'll definitely know more once you get there. I'll be going to Shenzhen in June. I don't think we find out our schools until just before we leave or something like that. Haha, sorry, a t-stop is what people in Boston call the subway stops.

Hi Erin, thank you for the advice. I would like to live close to the school, looking at a map of my city there are tons of residential areas near the school, but it doesn't look like they are within walking distance. I guess I'll know more once I get there. Where will you be? What's a T-stop?

Hey Jake, I'm not going to Chengdu but other EF teachers told me it's best the first year live as close as you can to your school (such as within 20 min walking distance or close to a t-stop). That way, you can have time to navigate the city/explore/orient yourself once you're used to it.

Hey Bernie, maybe we'll be at the same centre. Yes, that is correct, but I've seen on the main website that some flights are paid for upfront  but I think it only applies to those teaching kids.

Hey Jake,
I'm headed to Chengdu also to teach adults -
It's my understanding that we get reimbursed for the flight in monthly payments (subject to Chinese income tax).

Bill Payne, are you teaching Kids? I think only those who are teaching kids get a free flight... not sure though. I'm going to be teaching adults.
