Friends, Teachers, EF, Lend me your ears!
It is a pleasure to meet you all! My name is Roberto, and I'm moving to Beijing, as is apparent in the title. I can't wait to meet you all, those in Beijing, and those outside of it! I'm an avid history lover, a lover of classical music, Jazz, and Rock, and a giant bookworm. China seems like such a great opportunity to meet new people, do something that I love, and of course, eat all that good food!
Can't wait to see you all!
My name is Vele Nemaheni and I’m from South Africa , I’m so excited to be joining the EF family in Shanghai. I’m expected to arrive in August and I’m so ready to be there already .

My name is Mariah Seale, and I am scheduled to arrive in Shanghai around June 20th from Tampa, Florida. I am excited to join the EF teaching team and experience life in China. Looking to connect with others going to Shanghai in June or already living there. I am also wondering if anyone is looking for a house/roommate, as I will be for the upcoming school year. Moving across the world without knowing anyone or even having an idea of where I will live and who I will…Continue
I'm currently waiting for documents from EF to be able to apply for a Z Visa. Must admit this has been a 2-month process with more things to do. I was hoping to be able to connect with some current or future teachers at the adult learning center in Xian. Please let me know and I'd be glad to provide my email address.

Hi Everyone! I am Shaun and I am from South Africa. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and was raised in South Africa since I was a year old. I have been in the corporate world working for Huawei Africa for a number of years and have decided to leave the corporate life to get a better balance of life and get into a teaching role in China where I can be closer to my girlfriend of 3 years. I do speak English, Afrikaans, Mandarin, Cantonese and a dialect called Hakka which originates from…Continue

So I finished my TEFL a while ago and handed in all of my documents about two weeks ago. The people at EF applied for working permit for me, so I’m just waiting for that back. I was wondering how long did it take for everyone else to get the work permit? And then their Visa? I’ve heard about 40 days for the WP? Did it come quicker for anyone else? I just hate this waiting game so much!
im set to arrive in Beijing on the 11th of July so if you’re coming…Continue
Yes, you read the heading correctly. I'm moving to China. Door after door has flung wide open and my path has been illuminated brightly that this is to be where I begin the next season of my life.

Hey! My visa will be ready for pick-up in two days. Looks like I will be leaving the U.S. (Chicago) and arriving in Shanghai with the group on May 23rd. Would love to see who is going at the same time. Send me a friend invite. Would love to connect!
See you soon,
I was wondering was anyone else trying to learn Mandarin before they leave. If you would like to have casual conversation or just share notes... message me!
I leave out in October, so I want to at least know something before I leave!
Hello EF Teachers,
If any one has any questions about the on-boarding process, what to expect, or just generalized questions feel free to ask on this post. I have been in Shanghai for about three weeks and I work in the Kids Online department of EF. Currently, we are based at the Shanghai HQ , but will be moving to our new office space in the Pudong area. I know a lot of you have questions or maybe you feel like your situation is different than everyone else. Please feel free…Continue
I'm Ariel from, and greetings from the Lone Star State of Texas (Houston to be more specific) I'm very excited and also nervous about coming and living in Shenzhen this coming June 2018. I've been a busy Bee since accepting the offer, and can't wait to meet the rest of my Shenzhen/ EF Family. I've never been outside of the US before, but I'm very much looking forward to exploring and partaking in this great adventure. As you can tell I like to add a touch of humor to the…Continue
My training class has been here for a couple of days now and it's awesome! Don't get me wrong, there are lots of people and the air quality could be better. But the food though! :) The Chinese nationals that we have interacted with in the community have been helpful and very friendly. I have had a few people attempt to speak English with me just to say hi. We went out to eat last night, armed with only our smart phone translation apps and a piece of paper. The poor girl that took our order…Continue

Was wondering whether anyone is moving to July, my official move date is the 25th July but it would be great to speak to a few people moving around that date. I also need to think about where I want to live i'm guessing! Feel free to add me as a friend and pop up for a chat!
My name is Lexi. My arrival date isn't finalized yet, but I am hoping to be in China by May-ish, I've got all my documents in and now it's just a waiting game. I will be living and teaching in Foshan, and I had two questions:
1. Is anyone near there who wants to get in contact?
2. Is anyone paying student loans from China? I am worried about getting money from China to the US to pay mine!
Thank you for reading,
Good Evening Everyone,
I'm so excited to join EF. I'm so excited to be heading to Shanghai to teach english. It will be a big change from my life in the Central San Joaquin Valley in California, but I like adventure and I'm excited about the journey. Hope to see y'all in the middle kingdom.
