Hi, I'm Jane!

Profile Information

A little about me
I've always loved learning: learning about the world and the people in it. As a child, my parents encouraged my sister and I to be curious about the world around us, a curiosity that was fostered by extensive travel and a home with frequent visitors. A particularly strong memory is of one winter, in Grade 6, my parents made the decision to take both my sister and I out of school for a month to travel around Australia, New Zealand and the Fuji Islands. That's where my love of travel really began. I left Canada to move abroad almost 7 years ago. I have experience teaching in various cities in both Japan and China. My background is in Psychology, and in addition to my TEFL certifications, I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Adult Education.
■Hometown: St. Albert, Alberta, Canada
■The Years: Almost 5 years in China, and 2 in Japan
■If I had a million dollars: I would move to Greece and live by the ocean in a white house, where I would drink expensive wine and eat olives.
■What keeps you here: Travel, fabric markets, and small streets waiting to be explored.
■Advice for new teachers: Practice curiosity on a daily basis. Think of your life in China as a story you want to tell your grandchildren someday.

Whether you have just arrived yesterday, or you've been here for 3 months, or even a year...adjusting to China happens in various degrees.
